Big Orbit links kids with interest groups that target youth!

Toronto, ON - September 29, 2000 - Big Orbit, a new media producer of web, interactive TV and multimedia for children, teens and young adults, has developed a Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and a Youth Advisory Panel (YAP). This move reflects Big Orbit's long track record of working with youth and puts in place a formal process to collect youth feedback. The initiative includes members from across Canada and ranging in age from 7-12, 13-17, and 18-24 years old. Big Orbit intends to use the youth feedback as a resource for itself and its clients that are looking to communicate to youth in a relevant way.

The members of the Council are articulate, motivated, net savvy, potential leaders and opinionated. "Once kids hear that their input is valued, the energy level and interest to participate is amazing!" says Talya Rotem-Assaf, Big Orbit's Youth Community Strategist. The youth feedback supports Big Orbit's ongoing efforts to advance the inclusion of youth input in interest group initiatives that target that specific demographic.

Council members will contribute ideas on how to communicate youth while Panel members will provide complimentary information in the form of aggregated statistics. Feedback will be collected by e-mail, through interviews and other rich media formats, and selected pieces will be featured on Big Orbit's Exploring Planet YouthTM resource site. This initiative places Big Orbit at the forefront of advancing an industry-wide attitudinal change from treating youth as media receptacles to appreciating youth's role as potential co-developers of initiatives that target them.
